Privacy notice

This notice explains how RISING-RO processes personal data when you visit this website, subscribe to the newsletter, send an expression of interest or contact us. It is written to meet the requirements of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Law on Personal Data Protection of the Republic of Serbia (Official Gazette of RS, No. 87/2018), which follows the same principles.

No tracking, no cookies
This website does not use cookies for tracking or advertising, and it does not use any cookies that require your consent. That is why there is no cookie banner.- Fonts are hosted on our own website. Your browser does not contact Google Fonts or any other font service.
- We do not embed social media plugins. The share links on news articles only contact the social network if you click them.
- If we switch on visitor statistics, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless. It does not store information on your device and does not create a profile of you; it counts page views in aggregate.
Visiting the website
The website is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. (Cloudflare Pages). To deliver the pages and protect the site against attacks, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address, the page requested, the date and time, and your browser type. This data is processed for security and to operate the service, on the basis of our legitimate interest in a secure, working website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). It is kept only briefly in Cloudflare's systems and is not used to identify you.Newsletter
**What we collect:** your email address and first name, and, if you choose to give them, your profession and country.Why: to send you the RISING-RO newsletter with news about projects, events and opportunities to take part, and, using the optional details, to make it relevant to you.
Legal basis: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you give by ticking the consent box. You are subscribed when you submit the form with the consent box ticked, and we keep a record of when you gave your consent.
Processor: the newsletter is managed with Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, France), which stores the data in the European Union.
How long: until you unsubscribe. Every newsletter contains an unsubscribe link, or you can write to us. After you unsubscribe, Brevo keeps your email address on a blocklist only to make sure you are not contacted again.
Expression of interest
**What we collect:** your first and last name, email address, profession, institution, country, the working groups you are interested in, and your message, if you write one.Why: to contact you about taking part in RISING-RO, its working groups, research projects and activities, and to build the society's first register of interested professionals.
Legal basis: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), given by ticking the consent box. We keep a record of when you gave your consent.
Processor: Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, France), in a separate list from the newsletter. The data is stored in the European Union.
How long: until you withdraw your consent, or for at most 24 months (to confirm) after our last contact with you unless you become a member, whichever comes first.
Contact form
**What we collect:** your name, email address, the subject and your message.Why: to answer your message.
Legal basis: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), given by ticking the consent box, and, where you ask us about taking part or collaborating, steps taken at your request.
Processors: the form is sent through Web3Forms, a form-to-email service, which forwards the message to our mailbox. Our email is provided by Google Workspace (Google Ireland Limited). These providers may process data outside the European Union; where they do, the transfer is protected by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.
How long: as long as needed to deal with your message, and no longer than 12 months (to confirm) afterwards, unless the exchange becomes part of an ongoing collaboration.
Emails you send us
If you write to [info@rising-ro.org](mailto:info@rising-ro.org), we use your email address and the content of your message to reply. Emails are stored in our Google Workspace mailbox for as long as needed for the correspondence.Who receives your data
Only the people within RISING-RO who need it for the purpose described above, and the processors named in this notice, who act on our instructions under a data processing agreement. We do not sell your data and we do not share it with third parties for marketing.Your rights
You have the right to:- access the personal data we hold about you and receive a copy;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data erased;
- restrict the processing of your data;
- object to processing based on our legitimate interest;
- receive your data in a portable format (data portability);
- withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before the withdrawal.
To exercise these rights, write to info@rising-ro.org. We will answer within one month.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. In Serbia this is the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection (Poverenik). In the European Union you can contact the authority in the country where you live or work.
